P6 have started a new topic all about bridges! Today we looked at what makes bridges strong, and then we were set an engineering challenge:
- We had to build our own sturdy bridge in a set time,
- It had to stand up on its own,
- Every member of our team had to be able to move underneath it.
We learnt about engineers, whose job it is to design and build bridges safely, and discussed how engineers have to work to set deadlines, and communicate efficiently in teams to get the job done. We tried to practice these skills as we planned and built our own bridges!
As you can see, there are some examples of suspension bridges and beam bridges here, although some needed a little extra help to stay up!
