Building Bridges like the Romans.
21st Jan 2020
P6 welcomed The Model to our school today as we continue our Shared Ed programme.
On the agenda today was using marshmallows and toothpicks to build structures. P6 from both schools used their knowledge of shape to help decide what shapes work best when building bridges (triangles).
We also had the opportunity to build arch bridges using cement and clay just as The Romans did. The secret to a successful arch bridge, is forming the keystone in a trapezium shape. This helps to hold the structure in place.
It was messy, but worth it!
