Primary 2 love using different resources to help us build our maths skills. We have been using Cuisenaire rods to help us explore place value. First we had some free play with the rods and could make anything we wanted. Some of us lined the rods up to make a staircase and noticed that they were all different lengths and colours. We thought this meant that they could represent different numbers up to ten. Then we looked at how to make numbers bigger than 10 by putting rods together.
