Cup Anemometer

4th Feb 2022

P7 were investigating how to measure wind speed today as part of our WAU topic on The Titanic.

We found out there are different ways to measure wind speed, but a cup anemometer is among the most reliable.

Thomas Romney Robinson, originally from Armagh, developed an anemometer design with 4 cups in the 19th century, which now bears his name. Most modern anemometers take inspiration from his design.

Indeed, P7 used his design to make our own and measure the wind speed today. It was that fast, we lost quite a few cups in the process!!!!

While outside, we also found homes for a little bird boxes.
