Day 1 in Shannaghmore
We all arrived safely at our destination around 11.30 today.
After a quick debrief and being allocated our rooms, we fired up our bellies with chips and pizza for lunch.
Then we were given our wet gear and we suited up for a trip to Castlewellan Lake where we kayaked the afternoon away with the Sun on our backs. Everyone managed to stay INSIDE the boat, although I was glad I was wearing wet gear as Jamie did his best to fill our KAYAK up with water from his paddle!
Once we got back to home base we had dinner and then we went 'Night-Lining' (nope, I didn't know what it was either). The children wore masks, although it was pitch black anyway, and followed ropes through the forest over numerous obstacles. They had to communicate with their partners to ensure everyone arrived safely at our destination. I am happy to report that they did.
We are currently doing Miss Child's eagerly anticipated booklets, before we have some free time. Supper will be served at 9.30pm and then (fingers crossed) it will be lights out at 11pm.
Breakfast is at 8.30 in the morning and tomorrow we are doing archery, a jungle walk (my personal favourite) and some orienteering in Tullymore.
It's our first time at this facility and we are pleased to announce that our expectations have been met and passed...Roll on a good night's sleep!😊
