Dissecting Owl Pellets! π¦
Today Primary 3 were scientists! π¨π»π¬π©πΌπ¬
We have been learning about owl’s diets - they eat small birds, mice, rats, voles and shrews! π¦
Owls don’t have teeth, so they swallow their food whole! Whatever their body can’t use (like bones, fur and feathers) is packed into an owl pellet and coughed up!
We dissected an owl pellet to work out what our owl had eaten! We used our bone comparison sheet to match the bones to the animal. It was lots of fun! π
