Dissecting owl pellets! π¦
18th Mar 2021
Today we are scientists! π¨π»βπ¬π©πΌβπ¬
We learnt about owlβs diets - they eat small birds, mice, rats, voles and shrews! π¦
Owls donβt have teeth, so they swallow their food whole! Whatever their body canβt use (like bones, fur and feathers) is packed into an owl pellet and coughed up!
We dissected an owl pellet to work out what our owl had eaten! We used our bone comparison sheet to match the bones to the animal. It was lots of fun! π
