This morning Primary 7 learned all about the origins of the Victorian sponge cake and how to make one! The children were provided with a list of ingredients, equipment and instructions. They took turns giving Mrs Warburton instructions in a live demo!
Children took turns helping with weighting ingredients, reading a scale, beating butter and sugar together and folding in flour. Fun fact, Alfred Bird developed baking powder in 1843. This key ingredient helps make cakes rise and taste even more delicious! 
They then got to decorate their very own mini Victoria sponge
