P7 Trip to Kingspan - Home of Ulster Rugby
The class of P7 have been lucky enough to have had Tag Rugby lessons from Gary again this year. This tied in very well with the Six Nations Tournament, which we followed, watching some of the highlights of the final game.
As it is a Rugby World Cup year (September, in Japan) Ulster Rugby offered us the opportunity to be taken to the stadium for a tour. In the beautiful sunshine, we went pitch-side, sat in the dugouts, heard the history of the stadium and saw the metal artwork of aspects of the game. The children also had the chance to visit the Nevin Spence Centre, where they designed their own computer game, involving rugby balls, players and so on. We had the opportunity to challenge the team (interactively) by trying to block their tackles. We tried to kick a ball over the bar and tested our reaction times.
The highlight of the trip for Miss Childs, however, was being able to see the players training in the gym..... Rory Best (Captain) and Iain Henderson, to mention but a few.
A great day for all involved!
