Testing Materials for Black Out Curtains

As part of our World War 2 topic, primary 4 have been testing the suitability of different materials for use in blackout curtains. They shone a torch directly through 6 different materials before assessing their findings in 3 different categories;

1. Percentage of light passing through
2. Transparent, translucent, or opaque
3. Suitable for use in black out curtains - yes/no

We found that the thicker the material and the darker the colour, the less light that would pass through.
