The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Since starting back after our Easter holidays we have started our new topic of On the Farm starting with learning a little bit about new life. We have used the story of The Very Hungry caterpillar to learn more about new life and the life cycle from a caterpillar to a butterfly. In the story the caterpillar eats lots of different food, healthy and unhealthy. SO, he sent us some delicious fruit for us to try; strawberries, blueberries 🫐 , pineapple 🍍, mango 🥭, kiwi 🥝 and raspberries. We sorted them into fruit that we liked and fruit that we didn’t like and then the next day followed instructions to make some delicious smoothies ...YUMMY! In the playroom we have been making our own butterflies 🦋, pretending to be caterpillars 🐛 in the finger gym using a single hole punch to eat little holes in the leaves 🍃 making caterpillars in the play dough area and making flower arrangements in the water tray for the butterflies to drink some delicious nectar to keep them healthy 🍎🍐🥝😋 and making our own stick puppets to retell the story in the literacy area 🎭
Have a look at what we have been getting up to!
