WW2 Food Rations
As part of our new topic, Primary 4 have been exploring the rations in place throughout the Second World War. We used a range of weights to measure out the weekly allowance of tea, sugar, meat and butter. We were shocked to see how little meat was allocated!
We then used a range of rationed and non-rationed foods to plan out a weeks worth of dinners. We initially thought it was easy as we could use plenty of the non-rationed foods. Before long we realised it wasn't just as easy and bread without butter could become very dry and boring.
Interestingly, we decided to plan Fridays meal first and we made it the nicest. We thought it would be important to have something yummy to look forward to after a long week.
